Job Description

1. Is responsible for ensuring that tests are completed on patients of all ages in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Health System. 2. Acts as a technical resource person to laboratory staff members for an assigned testing system. 3. Uses quality control samples to verify accuracy and precision of test results and adheres to the laboratory’s policies and procedures. 4. Follows the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, labeling handling, transport and processing. Reports and maintains laboratory results utilizing written procedure and policy guidelines. 5. Accepts the assignment of a testing system in their assigned modality where they perform and document instrument and procedural calibrations, troubleshooting and maintenance as required or indicated. Reviews and evaluates maintenance and QC records. Performs all other regulatory activities for the test system as required by

CLIA/CAP. 6.

Write, review and maintain all applicable policy and procedures related to the assigned test system. 7. Performs test procedures, identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Corrects the problems or seeks guidance from the Laboratory Director/Manager, Laboratory Medical Director, Team Coordinator or designee for problem resolution. Exercises judgment and accepts responsibility in resolving technical problems. 8. Evaluates and maintains supply and reagent inventory for assigned testing system. 9. Effectively operates all computer systems and functions associated with them to include order entry, resulting, error correction and applicable billing and auditing processes. 10. Assists with special projects (e.g. health fairs, correlations, policy/procedure manual review, policies/procedures, and new test implementation). 11. Performs other duties as directed.
