ATTRIBUTES
Required:
Six (6) or more years of experience as a medicaltechnologist
Preferred:
Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory orleadership position Ability to work independently and on a team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Required:
BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science(Biology, Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and/or equivalentrelevant experience as recognized by New York State Department ofEducation for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. (NYSDept of Education, Education Law, Title 8, Article 165, sub-parts79-15; 9/23/8).
Preferred:
Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory orleadership position
Required:
New York State Department of Education License orLimited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Certification by American Society for ClinicalPathology (ASCP) Must meet New York State Department of Health CLEP requirementsas a laboratory supervisor for weekend/holiday coverage asrequired. If travel is required, must have a valid NYS driver’s licenseas defined by the RGHS Motor Vehicle and Authorized Drivers Policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lab Management. Perform specialized and complex diagnosticprocedures; accurately prepare reagents and maintain properinventory of laboratory section supplies; interpret and correlateclinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinicalcondition in order to explain test results; communicate stat andcritical lab results; perform quality control, routine and advancedmaintenance and instrument troubleshooting Technical Knowledge. Maintain knowledge of required computerfunctions associated with testing and to assist in completingtesting and workflow management; may conduct research anddevelopment of new or updated technologies and provide writtenevaluation to supervisor Leadership. Assist in training new and existing employees onnew procedures and instrumentation; act as a technical consultantto technologists, technicians and/or students rotating throughtheir area; teach in the School of Medical Technology and Labrotations as needed
