BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science(Biology, Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and/or equivalentrelevant experience as recognized by New York State Department ofEducation for licensure as a

Clinical Laboratory Technologist Preferred:

Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory orleadership position

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Correctly performs testingin an accurate and timely manner.
  • Interprets and correlatesclinical test results with patient history, diagnosis and clinicalcondition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) sothat appropriate action can be taken.
  • Communicates stat andcritical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions causingdelays in test results to physicians, nursing units and otherappropriate medical personnel.
  • Performance of QC, routine andadvanced maintenance and analyte/instrument troubleshootingactivities.
  • Accurately prepares reagents and maintains properinventory of laboratory section supplies with appropriate costcontainment in mind.
  • May provide weekend/holiday supervisoryoversite as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of required computerfunctions associated with ordering testing, performing testing,resulting testing and calling up various reports to assist incompleting testing and the management of workflow.
  • Coordinatesand assists in the training of new and existing employees on newprocedures and instrumentation and acts as a technical consultantto technologists, technicians, and/or students rotating throughtheir area.
  • Teaches in the School of Medical Technology and Labrotations as called upon to do so. Assists in the performance ofspecialized and complex diagnostic procedures.
  • May conductresearch and development of new or updated technologies andprovides written evaluation to supervisor.
  • Additional Duties andResponsibilities as requested by Manager.
