PERFORMS PROCEDURES IN ASSIGNED AREASMEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Performs test according to standard operating procedure within a reasonable length of time. Performs quality control as required. Performs waived, moderately complex, and highly complex tests. Completes annual competency check list in all areas in which testing is performed.
OPERATES AUTOMATED EQUIPMENT MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Maintains, operates, monitors and reports test results on automated equipment. Performs maintenance and troubleshooting as appropriate. Performs functions in LIS as required. Assures that all remedial actions are taken if quality control is out of specified range.
INTERPRETS AND EVALUATES TEST RESULTS MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Monitors all test results for reasonableness and significant changes. Calls critical values according to procedure. Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of specimens. Analyze quality control data, make judgments and take appropriate action using scientific principals Ensures that patient tests are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken.
INSTRUCTS STUDENTS AND NEW PERSONNELMEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Instructs and observes student performance, evaluates and documents progress within three days of end of training period. Instructs new personnel as needed. Participates in continuing education activities.
ASSISTS IN EVALUATION OF NEW AND CURRENT PROCEDURES MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Participates in evaluation of new methods and procedures.
DEMONSTRATES COMPETENCY IN ALL LAB AND HOSPITAL POLICIES, COMPLIES WITH ALL SAFETY, REGULATORY AND ACCREDITATION AGENCY REQUIREMENTS MEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Demonstrates competency to perform tests via supervisory review of work, proficiency testing, quality control and quality assurance activities. Adheres to all laboratory safety requirements and follows laboratory procedures for preanalytic, analytic and post-analytic patient test management. Completes all annual hospital requirements.
RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING BLOOD SPECIMENSMEASUREMENT CRITERIA
Performs venipuncture and capillary collection of blood specimens according to laboratory policies and procedures. Uses AIDET when interacting with patients Uses 2 patient identifiers when collecting samples Labels samples at the patient bedside Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.
