Summary:

Performs a variety of patient testing andadministrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in theUNCHCS.
Responsibilities:
1. Investigates problems with equipment, testresults, specimens, and/or workflow.2. May participate on teams orperform special projects/assignments.3. May perform teaching ofClinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents andtraining of new employees. May serve as a technical resource.4.Performs quality control and equipment maintenance in theappropriate laboratory.5. Performs routine and less standardizedtest procedures which includes special chemical, microscopic andbacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions andprovides data.6. Prepares specimens and reagents, solutions, heat,or filters as required.7. Reports results to healthcare providers.
Consults/confers with health care providers regarding testresults.8. Reviews test results to ensure accuracy of report andtimely correction of errors.

Education Requirements•Requires Bachelor’s of Science degree. Must meet eligibilityrequirements upon hire to sit for MT exam within 12 months ofhire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements•Must obtaincertification within one year of becoming exameligible.
