Job Summary Performs laboratory analysis on received specimens,providing clinical information for diagnosis, treatment, andprevention of diseases. Responsible for overall quality,efficiency, and safety in the performance of assigned technicalduties. Essential Functions Demonstrates proficiency and followstesting procedures and policies by adhering to quality assuranceguidelines for equipment and work area, documenting correctiveaction for any non-conforming event. Prepares reagents, maintainsan adequate supply of materials for test procedures, and managesinventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.

Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities whileidentifying, problem-solving, and offering solutions to testsystems through appropriate department channels, such as contactingthe hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary.

Assists with the review and revision of procedures anddocumentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatoryrequirements from authorities such as CAP, TJC, and OSHA. Maintainsclear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadershipregarding issues, concerns, and problems that may affect patientcare or the operation of the department. Participates in planningand implementing changes through participation in staff meetings,task forces, or projects. Participates in the competency assessmentprogram, where qualified. Physical Requirements Works in afast-paced clinical environment containing biohazardous materialsalong with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards. Duties mayinvolve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending, andlifting light (20 pounds) to moderately heavy (50 pounds) loads.

Skills Associate’s degree required, MLT registry eligible orequivalent required. MLT (ASCP) or equivalent required within oneyear of hire. Education Associate’s degree required, MLT registryeligible or equivalent required. MLT (ASCP) or equivalent requiredwithin one year of hire.

6:30 pm – 7:00 am – 3rd shift, 3x12s including every 3rdweekend in a free-standing ER.

Certification/Licensure/ExperienceRequirements:

Associate’s degree required. Will accept MLT or MT,registry eligible or certified. At least 2 years of experience as ageneralist.
