- -Performs a variety ofpatient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinicalactivities in the UNCHCS. The Core Laboratory is comprised ofmultiple testing areas
- Chemistry, Toxicology, Blood Gas Analysis,Urinalysis, Coagulation, Automated Hematology and ManualHematology, including Smear Review and Body Fluid Analysis, andSpecimen Processing.
Standard schedule is 1130pm-0800amMonday-Friday with 1 in 4 weekends and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities:
1. Investigatesproblems with equipment, test results, specimens, and/orworkflow.2. May participate on teams or perform specialprojects/assignments.3. May perform teaching of Clinical LaboratoryScience students and Pathology residents and training of newemployees. May serve as a technical resource.4. Performs qualitycontrol and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.5.Performs routine and less standardized test procedures whichincludes special chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic laboratorytests. Observes tests and reactions and provides data.6. Preparesspecimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.7.Reports results to healthcare providers. Consults/confers withhealth care providers regarding test results.8. Reviews testresults to ensure accuracy of report and timely correction oferrors.

- Requires Bachelor’s of Science degree.
Must meeteligibility requirements upon hire to sit for MT exam within 12months of hire.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
