Summary:

This position has responsibilities in theCentral Processing, Bacteriology, and Special Microbiology sectionsof the laboratory. The Special Microbiology section consists ofMycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, andSendouts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to processingand testing specimens by using manual techniques as well as totallaboratory automation, mass spectrometry, and molecular methods. Asa member of our team this candidate will also perform specimenprocessing and setup tasks, Gram stains, rapid antigen testing,plate reading of cultures, susceptibility testing, and organismidentification.•M(ASCP) and SM(ASCP) certifications are alsoacceptable.•

Responsibilities:

1. Investigates problems withequipment, test results, specimens, and/or workflow.2. Mayparticipate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.3. Mayperform teaching of Clinical Laboratory Science students andPathology residents and training of new employees. May serve as atechnical resource.4. Performs quality control and equipmentmaintenance in the appropriate laboratory.5. Performs routine andless standardized test procedures which includes special chemical,microscopic and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests andreactions and provides data.6. Prepares specimens and reagents,solutions, heat, or filters as required.7. Reports results tohealthcare providers. Consults/confers with health care providersregarding test results.8. Reviews test results to ensure accuracyof report and timely correction of errors.
