Essential Functions:
Processes all testing of urine, blood, and other bodily fluids in order to obtain patients’ results for our referring physician sources Understand all laboratory policies and procedures. Maintain a clean & safe work environment. Maintain standards in routine & STAT testing.
Operate Lab instruments:
Architect, ABSciex , Beckman Coulter , Siemens , LCMS Instrument troubleshooting, maintenance, instrument setup and validation Solves routine problems independently within established troubleshooting processes. Performs quality controls and documents QC for each lab procedure on a daily basis. Performs bench-work, including but not limited to sample prep reagent preparation, sample pipetting, as trained, following laboratory established SOPs and quality standards. Oversees day to day lab operations Certify and approve testing results for reporting Maintain assay integrity and performance to ensure reproducibility of all results Promptly report concerns to all appropriate laboratory leadership and/or staff for effective feedback loop, quality improvement and training Method development and method validation Communicate with managers and other supervisors to solve work-related problems Read and comply with: SOPs, regulations, best practices, guidelines, standards, policies and procedures Enforce compliance of all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and best practices for: CLIA, safety, environmental, laboratory, hazardous materials, equipment, accident reporting and security Participate in safety training, follow laboratory guidelines including hazardous materials and waste handling, life safety, medical equipment safety, accident reporting and security Perform and document required maintenance on equipment. Review calibration & QC prior to testing/resulting. Perform calibrations and quality control as needed. Perform all other assigned duties as instructed or required
Education and Experience:
B.S. degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Medical technology or related scientific field (Official Transcript will be required) Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Strong working knowledge of quality assurance practices and procedures Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision Excellent computer skills Strong communication skills; both written and verbal Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
