ATTRIBUTES
  • Required:

    New York State Department of Education License or LimitedPermit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

  • Required:

    4 yearsof relevant Medical Technology Laboratory experience

  • Required:

    BSin Medical Technology or BS in a related Science (Biology,Chemistry, or The Physical Sciences) and/or equivalent relevantexperience as recognized by New York State Department of Educationfor licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Preferred:

Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory or leadershipposition

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Correctly performs testing in anaccurate and timely manner.
  • Interprets and correlates clinicaltest results with patient history, diagnosis and clinical conditionin order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so thatappropriate action can be taken.
  • Communicates stat and criticallab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions causing delays intest results to physicians, nursing units and other appropriatemedical personnel.
  • Performance of QC, routine and advancedmaintenance and analyte/instrument troubleshooting activities.
  • Accurately prepares reagents and maintains proper inventory oflaboratory section supplies with appropriate cost containment inmind.
  • May provide weekend/holiday supervisory oversite as needed
  • Maintains knowledge of required computer functions associatedwith ordering testing, performing testing, resulting testing andcalling up various reports to assist in completing testing and themanagement of workflow.
  • Coordinates and assists in the trainingof new and existing employees on new procedures and instrumentationand acts as a technical consultant to technologists, technicians,and/or students rotating through their area.
  • Teaches in theSchool of Medical Technology and Lab rotations as called upon to doso. Assists in the performance of specialized and complexdiagnostic procedures.
  • May conduct research and development ofnew or updated technologies and provides written evaluation tosupervisor.
  • Additional Duties and Responsibilities as requestedby Manager.
