This position will rotate between 3 different sleep centers at Mercy Hospital, Montefiore Hospital, and Monroeville Outpatient. Working only one weekend shift a month, this role is a night shift, with three 12-hour shifts from 7pm-7am-no holidays! We also offer full time benefits for this 36 hour per week position. Do you have Healthcare experience? EKG Monitor Technician, Dialysis Technician, Lab Nursing students, Respiratory Therapy, Allied Health graduates/students, and Pre-Med students are encouraged to apply! Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail and a willingness to quickly develop competency and work independently. The ability to collaborate effectively with the department team is essential. This position involves conducting sleep studies and providing direct patient care, including preparation, implementation, and patient education related to sleep study procedures. Patients are having sleep studies done and need a person with compassion and empathy and an included passion for Sleep Medicine. Patients range in age from 18 to 90 years old and can have complex medical conditions, require oxygen or advanced sleep studies. This will require someone interested in learning and patient to recognize when sensors need to be replaced even if it is in the middle of the sleep study. Once becoming a Polysomnography Sleep Technologist, you can immediately begin working towards your Sleep Technologist credentials. Once credentialed you can begin climbing the career ladder! Purpose:
Under the supervision of physicians and in the presence of a Registered Sleep Technologist (RPSGT, or RRT-SDS, or RST), the Polysomnographic Sleep Technician (Poly tech) is responsible for performing patient care duties and providing customer service to clients of the sleep center, while completing the ASTEP program and on-the-job training.
Responsibilities:
Must enroll and complete the ASTEP program within 1 year of hire.
While under direction of senior sleep lab staff according to department policy and procedure; Prepare patients for sleep testing, educate patients on sleep lab testing procedure, analyze and score sleep studies, perform therapeutic treatments and interventions, inventory and restock lab supplies, clean equipment and patient rooms, performs other duties as assigned.
Complete monthly ISR as a training scorer. Attend monthly staff meeting and required department/facility training. Performs duties in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
Qualifications:
HS diploma (required) and 6 months relevant experience in an allied-health field (preferred).
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist must be obtained within 2 years of hire. BLS required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS)
