CLINICAL EDUCATOR-SON ACCESS AND ENGAGEMENT

University of Alabama at Birmingham The School of Nursing Office of Access and Engagement (SONOAE) Clinical Educator role develops and supports community outreach, education, and other programming that supports the access and engagement mission of the SONOAE. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Access and Engagement for UAB School of Nursing, the Clinical Educator (CE) collaborates with the SON community (faculty, staff, students), UAB departments, and community members to plan and implement learning and engagement experiences that support the strategic priorities of the SONOAE. The CE will collaborate with appropriate personnel within the School of Nursing (SON) to ensure course and programs developed for community and campus learners by the SONOAE align and compliment the initiatives of the pre-licensure CEs. Key Roles & Responsibilities Collaborate with Office of Student Success, Student Success Champions, Simulation Lab Staff, and others as needed, to plan and execute opportunities to engage community, pre-nursing, and other interested students in activities at the SON. Collaborates with SONOAE Program Manager-II, and other personnel as appropriate to develop and implement programs that support SONOAE strategic priorities. Develops and provides academic instruction in assigned courses. Coordinates seminars and other educational experiences for students interested in nursing. Participates in the management of supplies and equipment inventory for SONOAE activities. Collaborate with community partners to develop programs that expose students and adults to opportunities within nursing and healthcare. When appropriate, collaborates with the Office of Student Success and Student Recruiter to coordinate high quality activities for community groups visiting the SON. Attends meetings/functions and represents SONOAE at community meetings and programs. Collects data on metrics, contributes to the preparations of annual and other reports. Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Superb organizational skills. Proficient computer skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritizes in a complex environment. Detail oriented. Self-motivated and works independently. Communicates professionally and effectively with staff, faculty, students and clinical sites.

Salary Range:

$55,180.00-$89,670.00 Qualifications Education Master’s degree in nursing and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Prior teaching experience in higher education is required. Prior experience working with community and student groups preferred. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Reliable transportation and an Alabama driver s license is required to attend offsite meetings and activities at times.
