Job Description
Evening Manager Women’s Shelter Open Door Community Center 1240 Cowell-farm Road, Washington, NC 27889 About us Open Door Community Center is a shelter for women and their children not experiencing domestic violence in Washington, NC. We are a supportive, collaborative and social culture. We are looking for an Evening Manager and/or a Night Manager to join our team. Hours would be 6pm -10pm for Evening Manager or 10pm-8am Night Manager, 3-4 nights/week. Overnight managers are able to sleep. The successful candidate will be reliable, responsible, a mature problem-solver, and firm but kind. You will need to be able to enforce shelter rules with confidence. Someone who has experience with individuals experiencing homelessness or has experienced homelessness themself, or other such barriers, is a plus. This job is perfect for the individual who is flexible with their evenings and overnights.
Responsibilities:
Oversight of shelter residents ensuring a safe and respectful environment Maintain a nightly log Answer telephone Monitor security cameras Assist residents as needed Client interaction Attend occasional training sessions/staff meetings Nightly intake of residents which includes searching bags and confiscating paraphernalia Maintain confidentiality of all information Data entry when needed Light cleaning/laundry Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by
Case Manager Requirements/Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills High ethical standards: honest, hard-working, dependable Must have a clean criminal background check Able to set appropriate boundaries with clients Somewhat flexible schedule (evenings & nights) Team player Comfortable working with a variety of people from all socioeconomic backgrounds Problem solving/de-escalation skills, or willingness to learn these skills Patience and ability to stay calm when situations arise Able to complete CPR/FA training if not already certified Some weekend and holiday shifts Google Sheets/Docs experience a plus ODWS is an equal opportunity employer.
