The Esoteric Microbiology Technologist Candidate will aidin identification of microorganisms such as Acid Fast Bacilli(AFB), fungi, and others through a variety of methods including:special stains, antigen detection, DNA probes, culture reading,PCR, Sequencing, MALD-TOF, and others. Additional responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to, antimicrobial susceptibilitytesting, assisting customer service and specimen management, andproblem solving to ensure accurate results and compliance. The workschedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Sunday-Thursday,8am-4:30pm.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Determine theacceptability of specimens for testing according to establishedcriteria Perform routine and complex technical procedures andfunctions according to departmental Standard Operating ProceduresMonitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure properfunctionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisionsregarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test and evaluatenew reagents or controls Report accurate and timely test results inorder to deliver quality patient care Perform and documentpreventive maintenance and quality control procedures Identify andreplenish testing bench supplies as necessary Assist withprocessing of specimens when needed Maintain a safe workenvironment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, MedicalTechnology or a related science 1 year of clinical laboratorytesting experience is required for Technologist level Ability towork independently and within a team environment Proficient withcomputers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are aplus High level of attention detail along with strong communicationand organizational skills Must be able to pass a standardized colorvision screen Flexibility to work overtime or other shiftsdepending on business needs
