The Chief Clinical Cytotechnologist will report to the laboratory director and have responsibilities that include receiving and processing cytology specimens, screening gynecological and non-gynecological cases, and presenting atypical findings to pathologists. The role also involves maintaining records per CAP and NYSDOH requirements, preparing QC/QA reports and annual statistics, writing, revising, and maintaining SOPs and policy manuals. Additional duties include supervising, scheduling, and evaluating cytotechnologists, assisting with training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. The Chief Clinical Cytotechnologist must verify the labeling and documentation accuracy of cytology slides, manage inventory, order supplies, and meet regularly with lab leadership. Candidates who secure quick interviews will have their ASCP registration and/or Certified Cytology School Degree, experience with screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, fine needle aspiration, familiarity with the Bethesda system for Cytology reporting, and will be NYS licensed.
