Pediatric Dental Assistant Sunny Shore Pediatric Dentistry 6288 Ronald Reagan Drive, Lake Saint Louis, MO 63368 Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to children, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for our young patients. This position requires a strong understanding of pediatric dentistry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available and charting is accurate. Perform coronal polishing during hygiene visits. Take and record vital signs and intraoral/panoramic radiographs of patients prior to treatment and during hygiene visits. Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, including preventative, restorative, and surgical procedures. Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records using Dentrix. Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Maintain dental equipment and sterilize dental instruments using an ultrasonic cleaner and autoclave. Ensure the dental clinic is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Manage appointment scheduling and follow-up visits for pediatric patients. Communicate effectively with children to alleviate anxiety and foster a welcoming environment. Monitor inventory and notify when restocking is necessary in a timely manner Skills Proficient in pediatric dentistry practices and techniques. Strong understanding of medical terminology, dental terminology, and medical documentation processes. Experience with Dentrix or similar dental electronic health record systems is preferred. Ability to provide comforting care to anxious children with patience and understanding Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with children and their families. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain accurate patient records. Knowledge of general dentistry principles is beneficial. Familiarity with pediatrics is an asset.
