Position Overview:

The Lead Dental Assistant is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining efficiency in the dental practice. This role involves leadership, staff development, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and overall clinical support to enhance patient experience and operational success.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Leadership, Management, and Accountability Supervise and support the dental assisting team, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to protocols. Maintain high standards of patient care and clinical efficiency. Implement and uphold practice policies and procedures. 2. Patient Experience & Flow Ensure patients receive a seamless and positive experience from check-in to treatment completion. Oversee patient flow to minimize wait times and maximize chair utilization. Assist in coordinating treatment plans and follow-up care. 3. Training, Development, and Performance Train and mentor dental assistants to improve skill sets and efficiency. Conduct performance assessments and provide feedback. Implement best practices in chairside assisting and patient care. 4. Equipment Maintenance Ensure all dental equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and functioning. Coordinate necessary repairs and servicing with vendors. Maintain compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards. 5. OSHA Compliance & Sterilization Ensure the practice meets all OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control regulations. Oversee sterilization protocols to maintain a safe and compliant environment. Conduct routine audits and staff training on safety procedures. 6. Inventory and Ordering Monitor and manage clinical supply inventory to prevent shortages or overstocking. Place and track orders for dental materials and equipment. Maintain cost-effective inventory control. 7. New Patient Hygiene Reappointment & Same-Day Treatment Coordination Ensure efficient scheduling of new patient hygiene reappointments. Coordinate and support same-day treatment to optimize patient care and practice productivity. 8. Record Keeping Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, treatment notes, and clinical documentation. Ensure compliance with all legal and practice policies regarding documentation. Assist in updating and maintaining digital records in the practice management system. 9. Clinical Support Assist dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures as needed. Prepare treatment rooms and ensure necessary instruments and materials are ready. Provide post-treatment instructions and support patient education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a dental assistant, with leadership experience preferred. Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-required credentials. Strong knowledge of dental procedures, infection control, and equipment maintenance. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency in dental software and digital record-keeping systems. This role requires a detail-oriented, proactive individual with strong leadership and clinical skills to ensure a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency.
