  • Prepare the work area by laying out dental instruments, materials, and equipment
  • Prepare the patient for treatment by seating patient
  • Assist the Dentist directly with the anticipation of procedural needs, including retraction, irrigation, and suction
  • Continually observing patients’ general condition during treatment to detect and evidence of distress or shock

high school diploma; and either one year of experience in dental assisting or possession of a certificate in dental assisting.

  • Incumbents of positions that perform sterilization duties may be required to possess current certification by a nationally accredited central sterile technician credentialing organization as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or a substantially equivalent credential. During the next 2-3-year period, youth placed at the Finger Lakes Residential Center (Tompkins County) will be transported to MacCormick Secure Center due to dental suite renovations. Upon completion of the renovations project at Finger Lakes, the candidate will have to travel to the Finger Lakes Dental Clinic, likely 2 days per week which will result in the travel percentage being 40%.All OCFS employees will receive a generous benefits package, including:

Background Investigation Requirements:
