Orthodontic Dental Assistant Pediatric Dentistry of Pittsburgh 1600 Pacific Avenue, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and assisting orthodontists in delivering high-quality treatment. This position requires a compassionate individual who is eager to support both pediatric and adult patients throughout their orthodontic journey. Duties Assist orthodontists during procedures by preparing instruments and materials. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining their orthodontic appliances. Manage patient records, including medical history and treatment plans, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in compliance with infection control protocols. Utilize 3D scanners for imaging and assist in the creation of custom orthodontic devices. Schedule appointments and follow up with patients regarding their treatment progress. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient care. Skills Proficiency in medical terminology, dental terminology, and infection control practices. Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred, along with familiarity with medical coding and imaging techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of dental clinic operations and experience assisting in clinical settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with 3D scanning technology is a plus, enhancing the ability to provide advanced orthodontic care.
