Position Summary As an EFDA , you will help support the clinical needs of our patients and doctors. The duties of a Dental Assistant are very important for the functionality of our dental offices. These duties can include patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment scheduling. As a Dental Assistant, you will work under the supervision of dentists and work closely with dental hygienists in their day-to-day activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures while ensuring compliance with sterilization and infection control protocols Assist the dentist chairside during restorative, surgical, and specialty treatments, demonstrating knowledge of dental instruments and patient care. Provide comfort and reassurance to patients throughout their visit, educating them on oral hygiene, preventative care, and post-procedure instructions. Perform EFDA procedures, including placing and contouring fillings, taking impressions, handling temporary crowns, and conducting basic lab procedures such as pouring models and preparing cases for external labs. Take and process dental X-rays in adherence to radiation safety protocols. Maintain inventory control in operatories and ensure proper organization of materials and supplies. Deliver world-class patient interactions, including scheduling, follow-up treatment, and post-surgical care, while managing accurate documentation and recordkeeping. Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC guidelines to maintain compliance and patient safety. Ensure public areas are clean and presentable for a professional office appearance. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Excepted Competencies:
High School diploma or GED required Easily able to learn new technologies and systems required and demonstrates a desire to learn Expanded Function Dental Assistant certification preferred. X-ray License required 1+ years work experience as a Dental Assistant preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Requires some flexibility in scheduling Knowledge of dental assisting techniques and infection control practices. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other members of the dental team. Attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy. Adherence to ethical standards, state regulations, and guidelines established by the American Dental Association (ADA) and other relevant professional organizations.
