Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Pearly Whites Children’s Dentistry Chadds Ford, PA 19317 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office while providing exceptional care to our patients. This position requires a blend of clinical and administrative skills, making it essential for candidates to be adaptable and proactive in their approach. Responsibilities Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse, as needed. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Maintain infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff. Perform dental assisting duties such as suctioning, instrument passing, and patient positioning. Manage patient records, including updating medical histories and documenting treatments. Schedule appointments and assist with front desk duties as needed, including answering phones and greeting patients. Utilize medical imaging techniques to capture diagnostic images when required. Collaborate with the dental team to provide quality patient care in various specialties including general dentistry and prosthodontics. Operate 3D scanners for advanced imaging needs. Qualifications Previous experience in dental assisting or related field is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous for effective communication within the healthcare environment. Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is a plus. Understanding of infection control practices specific to dental settings is essential. Proficiency in medical imaging techniques is desirable. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and team members alike. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient records and scheduling. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
