We are opening a new pediatric dental office in Indian Land in mid-August and seek a skilled, patient focused Dental Assistant II to join our growing team. Our practice prides itself on high quality patient care, a supportive work environment, and opportunities for professional growth.
Responsibilities Pediatric Chairside Assistance:
Assist with a variety of pediatric procedures (Exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, stainless steel crowns, extractions, space maintainers, etc.) Anticipate the pediatric dentist’s needs during procedures.
Behavior Management and Communication:
Use age-appropriate communication and behavior guidance techniques to help children feel comfortable and cooperative. Engage with children in a friendly, calm, and patient manner. Operatory preparation &
Infection Control:
Prepare operatories before patient arrival: set up instruments, materials, and equipment. Sterilize instruments and maintain strict infection-control. Ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Digital Imaging:
Assist in taking radiographs as neededusing proper shielding and positioning.
Patient/Parent Education:
Instruct parents and children on oral hygiene, home care routines, dietary guidance for dental health, and post procedures instructions.
Record Keeping:
Document clinical findings, treatments, progress notes accurately in the system.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Qualifications and Skills Certification:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent per state requirements. Radiology certification and CPR.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of dental assisting and familiarity with common pediatric procedures.
Technical Skills:
Comfortable with digital X-ray and intraoral imaging. Willingness to learn new software system.
Clinical Competency:
Knowledge of dental materials and instruments. Strong understanding of OSHA regulations.
Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent with children, empathetic, patient, and able to calm anxious or fearful young patients. Strong Communication skills to explain procedures to both children and their parents.
Organization and Multitasking:
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively. Work schedule Generally Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm, Fridays 8:30am-1:00pm Initial training/shadowing at one of the existing locations may have slightly adjusted hours. Once Indian Land office opens mid-August, regular schedule applies.
