Our team values the integral role of the RDH indelivering preventive oral care and educating patients to maintainoptimal oral health. The RDH at Signature Family Dentistry holds avital role in preventive oral healthcare, including cleaning,scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent gum disease while educatingpatients about maintaining their oral health.
Essential Duties:
Record treatment details on patient charts, including treatmentsrendered, plans for future treatments, and time requirements forthe next visit. Take radiographs as directed by the dentist.
Document periodontal conditions, occlusal relations, andprophylaxis findings for a comprehensive diagnosis and treatmentplan. Escort patients to and from the treatment room, providingexcellent customer service. Administer Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen topatients when applicable. Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topicalagents, as well as pit and fissure sealants. Remove excess cementfrom supragingival surfaces. Assist the dentist during clinicalexams and record findings/recommendations. Perform oral cancerscreenings for all patients. Scale, polish, and apply fluoride toteeth.
Prepare treatment rooms:
set up, decontaminate,sterilize/sharpen instruments, clean equipment, and restocksupplies. Inspect and chart oral cavities for lesions,restorations, and missing teeth. Evaluate oral tissues and gingivalhealth. Perform root planing and Myofunctional evaluations. Educatepatients on oral disease prevention, bacteria’s role, and properhome care, providing educational materials and instructions. Cleanrestorations and appliances, such as partials and dentures.
Schedule follow-up appointments or coordinate scheduling with frontoffice staff. Manage and monitor the recall system, contactingpatients overdue for visits. Other duties as assigned.
Educationand Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
SpecialRequirements/Certifications:
Valid X-ray certificate. CurrentRegistered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license. CPR and first aidcertification.
