$18-$22 per hour, plus benefits. About the
Role:
We are seeking a skilled Model Department Technician to join our fast-paced fixed dental laboratory in Charlotte, NC. Our lab processes between 40-75 units daily, and we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional quality to our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with scanning, pouring, mounting, and articulating models, as well as managing the digital workflow through 3D printing.
Key Responsibilities:
Scan Impressions:
Digitally scan physical dental impressions using lab scanners to generate accurate STL files for model design.
Oversee Printing Process:
Manage the model printing workflow, including file preparation, print setup, and monitoring of 3D printers to ensure optimal output.
Pour Models:
Accurately mix and pour dental impressions to create high-quality stone models when applicable.
Mount Models:
Efficiently mount models using appropriate articulators to ensure proper occlusion.
Articulate Models:
Ensure correct alignment and articulation of models according to lab specifications.
Quality Assurance:
Review all completed models—both physical and digital—for accuracy and consistency before moving them to the next department.
Team Collaboration:
Coordinate closely with other technicians to maintain workflow efficiency and unit turnaround.
Maintain Equipment:
Clean and maintain lab equipment and 3D printers regularly to ensure long-term function and reliability.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior dental lab experience, particularly in the model or digital department, is required.
Digital Workflow Knowledge:
Familiarity with scanning equipment, CAD software, and 3D printing processes is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in model fabrication with excellent attention to detail.
Work Ethic:
Reliable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Communication:
Strong communication skills for team interaction and documentation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods and handle laboratory materials safely.
