Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Dental Provider (Dentist) responsible for providing preventive, restorative, prosthetic and minor surgical dental services for all CenterPlace Health Dental practices. The Dental Program is under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer or his/her designee. This individual should be licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Florida and keep the license current. The General Dentist shall be responsible for maintaining current dental, diagnostic, and therapeutic judgement. High moral character, ethics, and conduct are compulsory. S/he is expected to supervise, support and mentor dental assistants, novice dentists, and students, as reasonable, considering the provider’s training and capabilities. This position involves some risk exposure to blood borne pathogens.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Patient Management:

Provides direct dental services Performs general dentistry in each clinic as scheduled to include dental examinations, diagnosis and treatment as indicated on eligible clients. Formulates plan of treatment for patients’ teeth mouth issue(s). Utilizes preventive and restorative treatment measures as first option when appropriate, in line with standards of good dental practice. Maintains detailed, accurate and complete comprehensive client records at all times, according to guidelines Refers clients for medical or specialized dental treatment and/or diagnosis of related problems as is appropriate. Operates proficiently various types of dental instruments and equipment using proper technique according to established dental practice, OSHA standards and CPH guidelines. Applies fluoride or sealants to teeth. Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications. Analyze or evaluate dental needs to define changes or trends in patterns of dental disease.

Patient Education:

Advise or instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services. Produce or evaluate dental health educational materials. Dental Electronic Health Record (EHR): Accurately and efficiently enters documentation into the EHR. Ensures all EHR documentation is completed accurately and timely. Cosigns charts as required in a timely fashion.

QI/QA:

Actively participates in quality improvement projects. Participates in ongoing peer review of dental records, and actively participates in committee assignments, and QA/QI activities. Participates Continuing Dental Education activities. Assists in identification, evaluation, and intervention of quality issues in the dental setting. Leadership Maintains ethical and professional standards deemed appropriate by peers. Supervises team activities. Provides supervision, education, and direct assistance when appropriate and as reasonable, considering the provider’s training and capabilities. Assists with management of patient flow to assure effective and efficient care is provided to all patients

Other:

Appropriately applies patient evaluation and management processes to clinical situations. Always maintains use of universal precautions. Completes Daily/Day end activities as assigned. Completes all required training and attends meetings, as assigned. Protects/observes patient confidentiality per policies and procedures. Recognizes and responds appropriately to violent/abusive situations, bomb threats, fire, and emergency situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS): DDS or DMD Graduation from an accredited school of dentistry and completion of approved dental residency. Current with and continuous maintenance of all required CME credits. Has a minimum of 2 years clinical experience or equivalent working in a dental practice Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Florida Able to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of care to patients Excellent communication skills • Friendly and professional demeanor Technical Skills Knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of current equipment/software.
