East Haven is a well-established long-term care facility located in the Bronx, NY, committed to delivering exceptional care and services to our residents. We are currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Director of Dietary Services to lead our dietary department and ensure the consistent delivery of nutritious and high-quality meals.
Position Summary:
The Director of Dietary Services is responsible for managing all aspects of the dietary department, including meal planning, food preparation, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a nursing home or long-term care setting and a strong understanding of dietary needs for elderly residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the dietary department Plan and implement menus that meet nutritional guidelines and resident preferences Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation regulations Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff Manage inventory and order food and supplies within budget Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to accommodate special dietary requirements Conduct regular quality assurance and sanitation inspections Address resident and family concerns related to dietary services
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in dietary management, preferably in a nursing home or long-term care facility Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or equivalent credential preferred Strong leadership and organizational skills In-depth knowledge of dietary regulations and food safety standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Budget management experience is a plus
