Full Job Description Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated and skilled Dietary Aid to join our culinary team in a Caregiving setting. The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the dietary department by ensuring that patients receive nutritious meals that meet their dietary needs. This position involves working closely with kitchen staff and healthcare professionals to provide excellent customer service while maintaining food safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing cold meals, snacks and beverages following specific procedures
- Serving meals, ensuring food safety, and that all hygiene procedures are always followed
- Displays a thorough understanding of all regulations (local, state, and federal) which affect dietary process including, but not limited to, patient care, sanitation, labor, fire, safety, and disaster and complies to these regulations
- Prepares cold food items, including salads, sandwiches, platters, desserts, nourishments, snacks, and special items as necessary
- Must demonstrate qualities of being a self-starter, and be able to make independent decisions when necessary
- Uses good judgement in conserving supplies, preventing food waste, and conserving utilities
- Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and ensure quality products
- Responsible for scraping, stacking, washing, and sanitizing dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans, and for removing broken and chipped dishes and glassware from use
- Properly transports and stores dishes, flatware, utensils, and pots/pans. Responsible for having enough clean and sanitized dishes, flatware, utensils, and pots/plans to meet time schedules for meal preparation and service
- Cleans and sanitizes the dish machine and dish room
- Assists cook, if needed, in preparing and serving foods for all diets, including therapeutic diets, according to planned menus, using proper portions and special diet items
- Sets up trays for service, sorts the diet cards and/or selective menus
REQIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Some kitchen support work experience is ‘Nice to Have’, but not a requirement.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent kneeling, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching.
