$27.50 – $41.50 JobSummary Plans, develops, and provides diet interventions, medicalnutrition therapy, nutrition care and preventive counseling toindividuals and groups in all areas of primary and specialtypatient/resident care, acute care, skilled nursing, out-patient,and/or community settings. Provides medical nutrition therapyservices and monitors nutritional care ofclients/patients/residents of all ages including neonatal,pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric as assigned. Thisincludes determination of nutritional status through nutritionalassessment, individualized care plans, provider orderrecommendations and implementation of nutrition therapy (includingverbal orders, diet modification, nutrition support, oral nutritionsupplements), education and counseling for disease and nutritionrisk management, and evaluation of outcomes of medical nutritiontherapy interventions. Additionally includes optimization ofself-management education and skills in the care ofclients/patients/residents with chronic conditions. Ability torecognize, evaluates, and provide for nutritional needs based oncultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs. Evaluates treatments orprocedures for effectiveness using an evidence-based approach.

Works on nutrition care protocols for the assigned area and acts asleader for the health care team in the implementation of thenutrition therapies. Educates on diet according to disease state,medical condition and health risk. Incorporates new trends andtechniques as necessary to design care plan and update standards ofcare educational material. Assists in tailoring clinical educationand associated materials for use with clients/patients/residents,families and caregivers. Performs quality control and maintains ahigh standard in relation to infection control mechanisms forsafety. Aware and conscious of individual’s insurance coverage andreimbursement circumstances, and participates in clinicalperformance improvement activities, including research that testsnew treatments or procedures for clinical evidence of outcomes.

Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or foodand nutrition through an Accreditation Council for Education inNutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program. •(After January1, 2024, the ACEND requires anyone taking the registration exam tobecome a dietitian have a master’s degree. Prior to January 1,2024, individuals qualifying to take the registration exam need tohave the minimum of a bachelor’s of science degree in dietetics.)Clinical nutrition experience through an approved coordinatedundergraduate program or successful completion of post graduateinternship required. Currently holds Registered Dietitian (RD)license within the applicable state(s). Registered by theCommission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required. For applicablestates, proof of a temporary/limited permit nutritionist licensewill be considered for registry eligible individuals in the eventthey are waiting to test for their CDR. Individuals will be allowedtwo exam attempts within three months of hire into their position.
