Job Description

Responsible for the coordination, nutritional evaluation, and medicalnutrition therapy plan for patients. Responsible for educating membersof the health care team on the science of nutrition. Screens patientsaccording to level of need, assigns level of care and performsnutritional assessments of patients in assigned unit and/or clinic.

Recommends modified diets and/or provides nutrition support byrecommending parenteral and enteral nutrition based on diagnoses and labdata. Recommendations include macronutrients, additives, fluid, andelectrolytes. Calculates nutrient content and recommends appropriatefeeding regimen based on patient status. Interacts with other members ofhealth care team, such as physician, registered nurse and pharmacist, tofacilitate and deliver effective patient care. Formulates nutrition careplan using laboratory and anthropometric data, medical diagnosis,clinical condition, and documents findings in medical record withindesignated time frame using the Nutrition Care Process. Writes MedicalNutrition Therapy (MNT) orders in accordance with medical center policy.

Participates in medical rounds and patient care rounds on a daily orweekly basis as appropriate and recommends changes in nutrition careplan. Provides education and in-service to physicians, medical students,nursing, other members of the health care team, schools and communitygroups and regarding the impact of nutrition in specific disease statesand conditions. Provides education and counseling to patients andfamilies regarding their nutritional needs. Monitors operation ofnutritional procedures on assigned units and/or clinics and acts as aliaison between the Food and Nutrition Department and assigned unit.

Provides direction and guidance to clinical support personnel. Maintainsrequired documentation of patient care in accordance with professionalstandards. Participates in training of college or graduate students.

Participates in quality improvement data collection and documents trendsfor assuring optimal nutritional care. Participates as an active memberof the Nutrition Advisory Committee or other Medical Center widecommittees, as requested. Identifies community resources and makesreferrals for continuity of nutrition care after discharge.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition or related field(Bachelors Degree must be from and Academy of Nutrition and Dieteticsapproved program.); MA State Dietician License and Registration withCommission on Dietetic Registration. To apply, please email resume andCV to
