CHILD NUTRITION DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Food Service Director license from the Mississippi Department of Education
- Proficient in the use of voicemail, e mail, and approve child nutrition software applications

- All Child Nutrition Staff

JOB SUMMARY
- Plans, organizes, implements, and supervises all Child Nutrition activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans and recommends programs, policies, and goals for the Child Nutrition Department
- Prepares menus and evaluates with Nutritional Analysis software
- Administers all district child nutrition programs in accordance with district, state, and federal policies
- Develops and controls government food subsidy programs and produces necessary reports (USDA commodities)
- Develops, monitors, and administers departmental budget
- Works with managers on all phases of the child nutrition program
- Evaluates performance of cafeteria managers and office staff
- Makes regular visits to all food service programs in the district
- Promotes professional membership in the state, district, and national organizations
- Maintains and trains clerical staff
- Develops and maintains an effective public relations program
- Monitors school cafeterias’ procedures for carrying out policies, laws, and accepted standards of food service, sanitation and equipment use and care
- Coordinates special functions
- Partners with related agencies for the betterment of the program
- Secures funds needed to provide each child with a nutritionally adequate meal at the lowest possible cost to each child
- Assists principals and teachers in the instructional phase of the lunch program and in promoting nutrition education in the classroom
- Insures that all Fair Labor Standards Act requirements are met in Child Nutrition operations.“`{=html}“
- Responsible for insuring that every employee under his/her supervision follows the district’s policy on overtime.“`{=html}“
- Responsible for insuring that the district’s fixed asset procedures are followed
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
- Assists in the fostering and promotion of a positive school/office climate
- Maintains a professional demeanor during all interactions between colleagues, parents, students and administration.
