School Nutrition Coordinator
Summary
The School Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s district meal program, ensuring that students receive nutritious, appealing meals in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local guidelines. This role involves managing daily operations, supervising nutrition staff, managing budgets and food service contracts, and complying with policies that support student wellness. The role will help develop a new program for Lincoln Charter School that involves researching and implementing the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive school nutrition program that aligns with the goals and values of Lincoln Charter School and meets the dietary needs of all students and staff.
Ensure the nutrition program complies with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including USDA and NSLP guidelines, if applicable.
Supervise and evaluate nutrition program staff, promoting continuous improvement and providing necessary training to ensure high standards of food service and safety.
Coordinate with local health departments and inspectors to ensure food preparation and service areas consistently meet or exceed health and safety regulations.
Monitor and manage the nutrition program’s operating budget in coordination with the Finance Director, ensuring cost-effective practices while maintaining quality and compliance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including meal counts, inventory records, compliance reports, and other required paperwork.
Assist in preparing for and responding to internal and external audits, ensuring all required documentation is readily available and compliant with audit standards.
Collaborate with school staff, students, and parents to gather feedback, promote participation, and support initiatives that improve the quality and appeal of school meals.
Promote healthy eating habits among students through outreach, educational materials, and activities in coordination with classroom instruction or school wellness programs.
Regularly communicate with students, staff, and families about menu updates, changes in nutritional guidelines, and important announcements related to the food program.
Provide input and oversight for menu development to ensure meals are nutritionally balanced and meet student preferences while staying within budgetary and regulatory constraints.

Qualifications
An initiative-driven leader who can independently lead and grow a program, identify opportunities and take action to execute the program and drive continuous improvement
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead teams, collaborate with vendors and staff, and engage with students and families
Detail-oriented with demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, cost control, and financial management within a food service or school nutrition setting
Knowledge of USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations and foundational nutrition principles applicable to school-aged children is a plus
