The Regional Lead Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the nutrition services and ensuring the highest standards of practice across the region.
You will supervise regional registered dietitians, dietetic technicians, and other nutrition staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure quality nutrition services and outcomes that directly impact and improve the health of the community. Leadership & Staff Supervision
Directly supervise regional dietitians and the Nutritionist Trainer.
Manage recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of nutrition staff.
Collaborate with the WIC Leadership Team (WLT) to ensure quality assurance of nutrition practices across the region.
Conduct performance evaluations for licensed dietitians and nutrition staff in the region.
Clinic Operations & Collaboration
Oversee the implementation of nutrition-related policies and procedures in the region.
Engage in performance management to monitor service delivery, quality of care, and program goals.
Collaborate with leadership and management to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
Participate in audits and clinical observations to maintain high standards in nutrition care.
Performance Improvement & Technical Assistance
Provide professional consultation to dietitians, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Advise regional nutrition staff on best practices and nutrition-related services.
Supervise dietetic interns during their practicum and ensure they receive a quality learning experience.
Stay updated on the latest scientific evidence and incorporate it into practice to improve nutrition services.
Employee Performance & Strategic Planning
Complete performance evaluations according to agency guidelines.
Support the DPH Strategic Plan by contributing to the development and monitoring of performance standards and staff competencies.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:
Positions in this class require registration or eligibility for registration by the Commission of Dietetics Registration and licensure as a registered dietitian by the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics. A bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, nutrition education, or food and nutrition and experience in clinical, public health, or institutional setting; or a bachelor’s degree in any field and registration by the American Dietetics Association and experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting. A master’s degree in public health, nutrition, or dietetics may be substituted for the experience.
Agency Additional Requirements:
. A registered dietitian nutritionist (RD/RDN) with a master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or community or public health and 4 years of experience in a clinical, public health or community setting, one (1) of which may have been in a supervisory capacity or a bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics and six (6) years of experience in a clinical, public health or community setting, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Must have an active license to practice from the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics or be eligible to apply for a South Carolina license.
DPH employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency. This involves being subject to duty and or call on a 24-hour basis.
You must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable transportation.
This position may require working early (before 8:30 am), evening (after 5:00 pm) and/or Saturday’s.
Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time, if required.
Work may require travel to other sites within the region. Periodic overnight travel may be required. Some bending, reaching, stooping and pulling, if required.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS
All new employees who are healthcare providers with job-specific exposure risk are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
