JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing is to providenursing services under the direction of the Director of Nursing inaccordance with established policies and procedures of thefacility, and local, state and federal regulations, to maximize thefulfillment of care-giving needs of the residents.

ESSENTIAL JOBDUTIES
To perform this job, an individual must accomplish eachessential function satisfactorily, with or without a reasonableaccommodation.
- Recognize and respond to changes in residents’conditions and document observations, interventions and outcomes
- Evaluate resident conditions; assist in development of overallcare plans for residents and restorative activities
- Review andre-write care initiatives as directed
- Order medications fromfacility pharmacy
- Assist in facilitating the coordination ofnursing services leave with interdisciplinary team
- Assist inreviewing, monitoring, intervention and documentation of complaintsand grievances from residents, families, visitors and employees
- Assist in organizing, managing, reviewing, monitoring, authorizingand administering nursing care functions for residents within thefacility
- Assist with the scheduling report of personnel as wellas the daily assignments of individuals working in the NursingServices Department
- Assist in making routine rounds; conducttours with others
- Monitor the workplace for possible health andsafety hazards, assist in the development and conducting of routinehealth and safety; back care training programs to prevent workerinjuries
- Coordinate with workers comp coordinator and offerreasonable accommodations for early return to work programs
- Assist the DON with evaluating the competencies of nursing staff
- Follow and assist in the development and implementation ofuniversal precautions and isolation procedures; assist in reviewingand monitoring compliance by staff
- Assist in inventorying,identifying and monitoring the storage of equipment, supplies, etc
- Assist in planning and developing of in-service education forstaff on related nursing services functions; conduct training asdirected
- Participate in various meetings of the facility, suchas care plan conferences, infection control, quality assessment andassurance, and any others as assigned by the DON
- Assist indetermining the staffing needs of the Nursing Services Department,including the recruitment and hiring of nursing personnel
- Meetwith nursing personnel, as scheduled, to assist identify andcorrect problems, and/or the improvement of services
- Assist inarranging for and overseeing resident admissions, transfers anddischarges
- Other duties as assigned

- Participate in surveys made by authorizedgovernment agencies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- –
Experience:
- o Preferred two (2) years’ experience in supervisionof others in a health care institution o Minimum of one (1) yearexperience implementing total patient care and care planning
- oMinimum of (6) months experience in geriatric and/or psychiatricnursing
- License/Certification(s): o Registered Nursing Degreerequired o Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee o Current CPRCertification
