Summary & Objective The Director of Nursing Services assumes authority and responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, directing, evaluating and controlling the overall operation of the Nursing Department. The Director of Nursing has 24/7 responsibility of the Nursing Department. Essential Functions Plans, organizes, implements, directs, evaluates, and controls the overall operation of the Nursing Department. Assures the Nursing goals and objectives which are reflective of the facility’s management philosophy. Directs monitors and evaluates all Nursing Department Committees, councils and team functions. Implements, monitors, and controls the approved department budget. Serves as the facility Stroke Program Director/Coordinator. Assures Nursing Management team develops and implements patient and/or resident care plans that reflect compliance with licensure and accrediting agencies. Assigns responsibility within the scope of the individual’s abilities, job description and licensures. Meets with Director, Executive/Administrator to discuss escalated matters, obtain direction and set time frames for planned activities. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation. Ensures the needs of all patients and/or resident needs can be met. Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss patient and/or resident’s status, census changes, personnel, or patient and/or resident’s complaints or concerns to ensure an effective QAPI program. Other Duties Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate patient and/or resident’s care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility. Coordinates nursing services with all departments as needed. Oversees nursing schedules to assure they meet patient and/or resident needs and regulatory and budgetary standards. Participates in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel and assures sufficient staff is hired. Establishes, implements, and monitors the infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment designed to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection. Ensure Nursing Department is prepared for inspections/surveys from but not limited to AHCA, TJC, DOH, or any other regulatory agencies. Participates in the preparation of the Plan of Correction response to an inspection survey, and implements any follow-up requirement for any nursing citations. Promotes customer service and hospitality and responds to and adequately resolves complaints or concerns from patient and/or resident or families about nursing services. Promotes positive employee engagement, teamwork, mutual respect and safety work practices. Maintain your required certifications and mandatory skill updates. Comply with all policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Answers call lights within appropriate established timeframe. Requirements:

Knowledge & Experience Requirements BSN required or obtained within 2 years (master’s degree preferred) Clear and Active Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of Florida. CPR certification 2+ years nursing supervisory experience required. 3-5 years of clinical practice in Health Care Facility Must display in depth knowledge of the nursing process. Must comply with all local, state, federal laws, guidelines and CHS policies and procedures. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team. Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
