40.00 Job Summary Administers thenursing program in a long term care facility to maintain standardsof resident care. Facilitates the optimization of the geriatriccare process to improve the quality and efficiency of service.

Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by theorganization’s nursing personnel. Advises medical staff, departmentheads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service andstrategies. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing serviceto staff and community groups. Monitors the operations of thenursing staff and ensures compliance with regulations onorganizational and governmental standards and practices. Schedulesstaff and conducts employee performance reviews. Provides nursingcare to residents on an as needed basis. Assists in the developmentand implementation of marketing activities/programs inclusive ofcommunity activities, special events and media activities. Hasoverall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of long termcare facility. Includes quality of resident care, program/caremanagement, environmental safety, budget constraints and respondingto identified needs to ensure regulatory compliance. Performsnecessary delegation and coordination for clinical, operational andmanagerial activities to accomplish the objectives of thedepartment. Effectively manages and directs the work of individualsor teams. Maintains communication and addresses the rapidlychanging healthcare environment in which clinical services aredelivered across the system. Leads the development and execution ofclinical programs, policies, procedures and protocols ensuringsystem integration and adherence of clinical programs, policies,procedures and protocols ensuring system integration and adherence.

Monitors operations of nursing staff and ensures compliance withregulations on organizational and governmental standards andpractices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred,but not required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursingprogram preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission onCollegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission forEducation in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for NursingCommission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). ForRural Health Network facilities and Good Samaritan Society (GSS)locations only, employees who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree,leadership may consider an educational plan with proven continuousaction toward achieving a Bachelor’s degree within five years ofhire into position. Additionally for Rural Health Networkfacilities Good Samaritan Society (GSS) locations, for currentemployees, leadership may have considered acceptable qualificationsand work experience equivalency based on facility size, ruralmarket, and business need, prior to new Sanford educationrequirements. Five years nursing experience required. Housing withServices, housing and urban development (HUD), and/or assistedliving experience also helpful. Thorough knowledge of the nursingpractice act and standards of nursing care, and a working knowledgeof administrative and management techniques. Currently holds anunencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where thepractice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistatelicensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains andsubsequently maintains required department specific competenciesand certifications.
