POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for managing overall operation of the Nursing Services Department for nurses in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern these facilities, and may be directed by the Administrator and Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Graduate from an accredited college or university with a certificate or degree program that prepared for RN Positions
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 1 year experience preferred; in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting preferred; in an inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting preferred. Must have experience in performance management and effective leadership. Must have ability to complete multiple projects
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida per state licensing requirements, maintaining current
CPR KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIRED AT TIME OF HIRE
Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge in KIPU preferred
SECURITY MEASURERS AND CLEARANCE
Nationwide, State & local county background clearances required to include fingerprinting Age specific individuals served: Adults
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ BASIC DUTIES
Assists Director of Nursing in training of all new nursing hires. Complete competency checklists for shadow shifts Monitors unit activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, and provide feedback, and assist, coach, redirect, and discipline as needed Conducts regular rounds to monitor client activity and ensure resident quality care Maintains up to date nursing training manual and educational materials as needed Reviews and sign offs on all Nursing Assessments not completed by an RN Maintains scheduling of nurses at detox. Assist in maintaining coverage for PHP centers when needed Reviews and approve time in the time clock system for all detox nurses. Act as a back-up for reviewing time for BHT Director and Director of Nursing for other facility employees Completes monthly Performance Improvement audits including, but not limited to Medication Reconciliation, Rounds, and Infection Control in conjunction with Director of Nursing and BHT Director Order medical supplies under the approval of Director of Nursing Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Medical Director and follows up as necessary Under the supervision of the Medical Director & Director of Nursing, assists in educating patients about health problems and medical care Facilitates medication education for new patients and for all other patients starting new medications Assists with HIV/Hep C/Communicable Disease trainings at PHP Centers twice a month Acts as a back up to Infection Control Coordinator for reporting diseases to Health Department. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information Participates in regular department meetings and staff meetings Encourages efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility Participates in Performance Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire & Disaster Committees, and others as requested. Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills, etc Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary by supervisor
