Nursing Full Job Description Job Overview:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing all nursing-related activities in the community. This includes ensuring residents receive appropriate care, emergency intervention when necessary, and supporting the independence of individuals. The role also involves leadership and management of nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Personnel Management:
Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise healthcare staff (nurses, CNAs, CMAs, etc.).
Healthcare Operations:
Oversee nursing schedules, provide 24/7 clinical support, and ensure appropriate medical charting and documentation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Coordinate the Quality Assurance program, audit resident records, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Resident Care:
Assess and develop care plans for residents, coordinate with physicians, and monitor changes in residents’ needs.
Incident Management:
Investigate incidents, complete reports, and ensure proper follow-up, including compliance with reporting requirements.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments and managers, including the Director of Memory Care and the Executive Director.
General Job Functions:
Ensure safety, maintain confidentiality, collaborate with team members, and uphold community policies.
Qualifications:
At least two years of nursing experience (preferably in assisted living or memory care settings). Must be licensed as a Registered or Licensed Nurse in the state of employment. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations (OSHA, Health Department, etc.). Ability to manage employee programs and foster teamwork.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Physical tasks may include lifting, carrying, and occasionally pushing/pulling objects up to 100 lbs with assistance. Ability to handle emotional and behavioral challenges from residents, families, and staff in a professional manner. Exposure to health and safety risks associated with healthcare environments, requiring the use of protective equipment.
