The Director of Nursing, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, isresponsible for the overall operation of clinical nursing serviceswithin Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS). The incumbent will work incollaboration with the CMO and Site Medical Directors to ensureeffective leadership within clinical teams and quality patient services.

The Director pf Nursing coordinates comprehensive organization-wideinfection prevention and control program and works collaboratively withthe Health Center Directors to meet OCHS’s overall goals. The Directorof Nursing provides strategic leadership in patient-centered, team-basedcare, ensuring seamless coordination among nurses, providers, andinterdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Summary of duties:

Provide clinical supervision of health center nurse managers. Throughthe nurse managers, oversees adequate nursing and medical assistantstaffing to support the primary care physician staff and specialty carestaff. Fosters a culture of collaboration by leading interdisciplinarycare teams, including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses,and medical assistants, to deliver integrated patient care. Empowersnursing teams to take leadership in team-based care initiatives, such aschronic disease management programs and patient-centered medical home(PCMH) models. Ensure conformance with OCHS’s policies and proceduresfor scheduling, time and attendance reporting for the nursing andmedical assistant staffing. Ensure nurse managers evaluate all nursingpersonnel at least annually on their nursing competencies and have aperformance improvement plan for those areas requiring furtherdevelopment. Ensure nurse managers continuously evaluate health centersaccess and health care delivery model to ensure goals are regularly metor exceeded. Through the nurse managers, maintains system for monitoring”next available” appointments, patient waiting (cycle) times, overallpatient satisfaction and outcomes according to established qualityimprovement indicators Collaborate with COO, Chief Medical Officer anddepartment managers to maximize communication and collaboration betweenall disciplines, sites and departments and to resolve any barriers toquality, team focused service delivery Responsible for the development,maintenance and implementation of all clinical nursing policies andprocedures, in coordination with CMO Collaborate with the CMO and othermanagement staff in the development and implementation of clinicalprotocols, and health center standards of care; Participates in allAccreditation and Licensure site visits and other site visits asnecessary for OCHS to meet its goals Unless otherwise delegated to thenurse managers, provides oversight for OCHS’s quality improvementprocess, including staffing the Quality Committee, assuringimplementation and completion of QI action plans, and development of keyindicators for monitoring quality of health center services Ensuremeaningful participation of the nurse managers in team meetings at eachsite to provide leadership on care planning, nursing functions and otherclinical issues Participate in the development of overall OCHS goals andquality measures, representing the interests of all sites Establish andmaintain competencies of clinical nursing and medical assistant staffEnsure reporting/integration of information in tocredentialing/re-credentialing process Remain flexible to completespecial projects and other duties as assigned. Ensure nurse managersmaintain adequate clinical supplies and are accountable for capturingtheir use, and at least annual review of the quality of the selecteditems in the inventory.
