Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Confidential Brockton, MA Job Details Full-time From $90,000 a year 15 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications CPR Certification Management Patient monitoring RN License Mid-level Supervising experience Patient care Leadership Under 1 year Nursing Full Job Description General Definition and Scope of Job The Assistant Director of Nursing will have primary responsibility for supporting the DON and coordinating the clinical staff and functions across multi service delivery sites;) to implementation and deliver the highest quality patient care; recommending strategies to improve services, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes and creating a clinical environment that fosters teamwork, collaboration and service excellence. Will be required to provide hands on nursing coverage as needed. Core Responsibilities

  • Assists Director of Nursing & Clinical Services (DON) in monitoring the nursing and medical support staff’s daily activities.
  • Assists DON in establishing along with maintaining nursing and medical assistant staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels are met and align with clinic and patient needs.
  • Reviews and edits staff timesheets and approves bi-weekly payroll and vacation requests.
  • Collaborates or assists with departmental orientation and competency-based trainings for nursing and medical support staff.
  • Assists with coordination of training along with education to ensure optimal levels of performance and quality standards are met.
  • Monitors and ensures clinical staff are completing their annual required and ad hoc assigned med trainer courses.
  • Collaborates with the DON to ensure that each site is running efficiently, effectively and providing the highest quality care to our patients.
  • Works in conjunction with and direction of DON to facilitate a flow of communication between clinical staff and management.
  • Assist as requested by DON to carry and respond to DON phone.
  • Assist DON as requested to complete staff 90 day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Assists DON in ensuring staff are trained and use best practices in nursing and patient care as appropriate.
  • As requested, participates in the recruitment and training of the nurses and support staff.
  • Assists with interpreting Health Center policies & procedures, rules and regulations to assigned clinical staff.
  • Monitors daily clinical nurse buckets and assigns staff as needed for task completion to ensure compliance with case follow up and closure to ensure highest quality patient care.
  • Monitors and reconciles the ordering of immunizations/stock medications.
  • Will be required to provide hands-on nursing coverage as needed. Site Management
  • Assists DON in monitoring the patient flow and demonstrates flexibility and leadership in supporting the staff so that patients are served efficiently.
  • Coverage and set rotation to all sites
  • Assists DON as requested with in -the-moment coordination with the Lead Nurse/ medical assistant when provider schedules are altered, as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring the completion of equipment care, and environment of care checks.
  • Responsible for ensuring the management of safe medication storage and medication ordering.
  • As directed by DON, actively provide guidance and direction to the Nursing & Medical Assistant staff, to ensure safe practices.
  • Act as preceptor/mentor to new lead staff.
  • Will support the efforts of the health center to meet all clinical standards and support efforts to capture the needed data. Other duties of the Assistant Director of Nursing

  • Providing guidance to staff and acting as resource to colleagues Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN is required.
  • At least three years’ experience in ambulatory care or public health preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills required. Previous experience supervising staff strongly preferred.
  • Excellent patient care skills required.
  • Ability to handle multiple requests and prioritize appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and prompt follow up skills required.
  • Possesses and displays the ability to act independently within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Communicates courteously, pleasantly, and effectively with patients, families, and staff both by telephone and in person, demonstrating superb customer service.
  • Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations.
  • Consistently utilizes good judgment in the resolution of problems, both clinical and non-clinical. Required Certifications and Licenses Massachusetts license to practice professional nursing; CPR certificate required. Current and active nursing license. Critical Demands of the Job
  • Manage multiple requests and prioritize appropriately.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced setting with a variety of patients and staff.
  • Attention to details and prompt follow-up.
  • Includes walking and standing for long periods of time, sitting for short periods of time, hand dexterity, clear hearing and speaking ability. Must be able to lift a maximum of 1/3 of their body weight.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Working Conditions
  • Works in well-lighted environment with comfortable surroundings.
  • Stressful at times due to competing demands, including attention to multiple patients and staff.

Required Availability May be required to work a rotating schedule as the department requires. This includes evenings, holidays, and weekends.
