Job Description

Overnight Nurse Supervisor 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 1903 Grant Avenue, Williamstown, NJ 08094 The role of this employee will be to manage the nursing staff at the Williamstown Maryville campus. This person will be responsible for all the day to day functions of the nursing staff involving the Williamstown Campus adhering to local, state and federal rules and regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures of Maryville Treatment Centers, The Division of Addiction Services and the Department of Health. Work is also performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, in a coordinated effort with the Director of Nursing, Director of Residential Services, Consultant Physician and/or Medical Director. Essential Functions; 1. Participate in treatment/multidisciplinary team meetings, as directed by Director of Nursing (DON). 2. Assists the Director of Nursing with the development of medical and nursing policies and procedures. 3. Assumes all responsibilities of the Director of Nursing when the Director of Nursing is absent. 4. Implement and assure adherence to Infection Control policies and practices. 5. Interview, hire, select, supervise, train and retain nursing staff for the Pemberton Campus. 6. Develop, implement, and monitor training needs and plans of the nursing staff at the Pemberton Campus. 7. Ensure that nursing assessments for clients are completed within twenty-four (24) hours. 8. Ensure appropriate medical care, comprehensive physical exams within 24

  • 48 hours of admission, coordinate health care provider visits and necessary screening and follow-up for clients.

9. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and accurate records of same in compliance with governing regulations and agency policy, ensuring proper storage and disposal as required. 10. Develop and implement health related seminars, including but not limited to HIV/AIDS, nutrition, medication education, Infectious Diseases, mental health, etc. 11. Educate staff regarding handling and storage of medications as well as the monitoring and documentation of such usage. 12. Develop and maintain a staff schedule (24 hrs. a day, seven days a week) that complies with DAS policy & procedures guidelines. 13. Available for coverage of nursing unit in the event the need arises. 14. Develop and maintain confidential charts that are “audited” on a regular basis and conform to DAS standards and/or regulations. 15. Responsible for overseeing the CPR, First-Aid and “Emergency Procedures” for Pemberton campus for all staff. 16. Provide leadership in Treatment Team, multi-disciplinary meetings and psychiatrist consultation. 17. Develop, implement and ensure adherence to Infection Control policies and practices. 18. Assist in the facilitation of special events, including, but not limited to: staff training, staff retreat, workshops and facility events. 19. Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of specific health care issues pertaining to substance abusers is required.
  • Knowledge of special population being served, such as mental health clients, corrections & HIV/AIDS is required.
  • Knowledge of correct record keeping in accordance with regulatory agencies and standards of practice is required.
  • Knowledge of popular nutritional requirements and practices for adults is required.
  • Knowledge of safe standards of nursing practice is required.
  • Must have the ability to work with clients/staff to gain confidence and cooperation.
  • Must have the ability to plan and organize work and prepare appropriate, accurate records and reports.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, health care providers, outside agencies, institutions and the general public.
Minimum Requirements Education:

High School Diploma/GED is required. Current RN license in good standing in New Jersey.

Experience:

Must have at least 3-5 yrs. experience in the field of addiction.

Sobriety:

If recovering, two (2) years sobriety.
