The Associate Directoris responsible for the daily operations of the Nursing Department.

Acts for the Director of Nursing in Director’s absence. Acts asliaison between hospital and outside agencies, i.e. FireDepartment, Client, Brooklyn Union Gas, Building Department, andState Health Department.

• Plans, implements, and evaluates allclinical care services provided by the unit, as well as allassociated administrative operations and activities
• Designs,establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffingto effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives;recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates unit staff
• Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocol s andstandards, ensuring that all federal and state policies,regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met
• Establishesand coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection controlprograms
• Oversees the overall operations of the unit (s)reporting to this position

Experience:

• Minimumfive (5) years of clinical experience and minimum three (3) yearsadministrative experience Must have minimum two (2) years ofInfection Control or Quality Improvement experience.

Knowledge andSkills:

• Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
• Abilityto communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.
• Mustbe trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policiesand procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardousmaterials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.
• Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.

PhysicalRequirements:

• Ability to work in surroundings with degree ofdust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
• Ability to hear,talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch.
• Ability to sit for longperiods of time at desk to perform job functions.
• Ability tostand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/orprocedural areas.
