Director of Nursing (DON) Long Beach Long Beach, NY 11561 Overview The Director of Nursing plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the highest standards of patient care within our facility. This position requires a dynamic and compassionate individual who is committed to promoting quality healthcare services in an assisted living, nursing home, or hospice care environment. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for developing care plans, managing nursing operations, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Lead and manage the nursing department, ensuring effective staffing and scheduling to meet resident needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents based on comprehensive assessments. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA guidelines and resident rights. Oversee the training and development of nursing staff to enhance their skills in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and best practices in patient care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care provided. Conduct regular audits of nursing practices to ensure adherence to policies and procedures, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments. Address any concerns or issues raised by residents or families regarding care delivery. Promote a culture of safety and respect within the facility, advocating for resident rights at all times. Skills Strong knowledge of assisted living environments and nursing home operations. Proficiency in developing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual resident needs. Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to patient care settings. Understanding of hospice care principles and practices. In-depth knowledge of anatomy as it relates to patient health management. Expertise in HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance. Experience with MDS assessments to support quality improvement initiatives. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, residents, and families. Strong leadership abilities to motivate and guide nursing teams towards achieving excellence in patient care.
