The Associate Director is responsible for the daily operations ofthe Nursing Department. Acts for the Director of Nursing inDirector’s absence. Acts as liaison between hospital and outsideagencies, i.e. Fire Department, Client, Brooklyn Union Gas,Building Department, and State Health Department.
- Plans,implements, and evaluates all clinical care services provided bythe unit, as well as all associated administrative operations andactivities
- Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizationalstructure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’sgoals and objectives; recruits, employs, trains, supervises, andevaluates unit staff
- Reviews, establishes, and maintains patientcare protocol s and standards, ensuring that all federal and statepolicies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met
- Establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, andinfection control programs
- Oversees the overall operations of theunit (s) reporting to this position

Experience:
- Minimumfive (5) years of clinical experience and minimum three (3) yearsadministrative experience Must have minimum two (2) years ofInfection Control or Quality Improvement experience.
Knowledge andSkills:
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
- Abilityto communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.
- Mustbe trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policiesand procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardousmaterials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.
- Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.
PhysicalRequirements:
- Ability to work in surroundings with degree ofdust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
- Ability to hear,talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch.
- Ability to sit for longperiods of time at desk to perform job functions.
- Ability tostand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/orprocedural areas.
