Duties Description Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center is recruiting an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric to function as the Assistant Director of the nursing department. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. As an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric, you will assist in the management, oversight, and evaluation of nursing and direct care services including:

• Developing and implementing nursing policies and procedures
• Overseeing, evaluating, and participating in recruitment, training, and continuing education programs for nursing and direct care staff
• Supervising Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric and other nursing and direct care staff
• Ensuring compliance with established standards of nursing care in accordance with State, federal, and accreditation agency requirements The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric if they have:

• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing; and
• 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals, at least 50% of whom have diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorders.

1 year of this experience must have been at a supervisory level.

Substitution:

Master’s degree in nursing can substitute for 1 year of non-supervisory post-licensure clinical nursing experience.

prior to June 2025 will be appointed in temporary status. In June 2025 the appointment will change to non-competitive permanent.

Permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion of an applicant who meets the position’s minimum qualifications if all requirements of non-competitive promotion are met.

The promotion field for the Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric position consists of candidates who have 1 year of permanent service as a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 Psychiatric. Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C M-1 ($90,931), an Increase Hiring Rate ($16,008), Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000) and Location pay ($2,000).
