Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Director Cardiac Critical CareServices supports the Cardiovascular ICU (8 beds) and theCardiovascular Stepdown Unit. (8 beds). The CVICU provides care tofresh post-surgical open hearts, valves, cardiovascular patientswith devices to include but not limited to: impellas, intraorticballoon pumps, Swan-Ganz lines, and others. In addition, thispatient population includes post-surgical vascular patients. The CVStepdown Unit is near the CVICU and cares for open heart patientsfollowing extubation (less than 24 hours) and other patients toinclude critically ill STEMI cases and others.
This Director reportsto the Chief Nursing Officer. The Director is accountable for highquality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinicalstaff, and appropriate resource management related to patientcare.
This leader will assume responsibility for assisting inassessing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluatingnursing practice on each unit. The Director will supervise andevaluate work activities of all nursing personnel and provideclinical leadership and set strategic and long-term goals for thenursing staff. The Director will assess performance objectives foreach nursing unit and organize, coordinate, develop and reviewpolicies, procedures and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory,compliance and quality care standards.
The Director is responsiblefor the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency(budgeting) of the nursing unit. The Director will lead andprofessionally develop the nursing staff within the unit, providingperformance goals, feedback, and development opportunities. Inaddition, the Director will is responsible for recruitment, hiringand training of personnel and will chair committees as assigned.
Provide direct care as needed. Role assumes 24/7 responsibility ofDirector’s assigned areas.
Responsibilities:

Essential FunctionsDevelops and implements departmentalgoals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of theorganization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations,including patient care delivery, information technologies, servicelevel determination, and complaint management, to achieveperformance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitorsstaffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating,disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensuresthat the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates andfosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinicalprotocols. Minimum Education Minimum education:
