Purpose:
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the therapy department to ensure that those supported receive the therapy services needed for optimal wellbeing.
Qualifications:
- Successfully completes the required pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
- Maintains a valid Driver’s License which meets company standards for approved drivers. Minimum insurance limits of 30,000-60,000 and clean driving records.
- Statewide travel within Florida is required.
- Proficient with WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK and basic computer skills
- Master’s degree required
- Demonstrated experience in a therapeutic setting working with people who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
- Must possess a license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech/language Pathology
Essential Functions - Supervise Therapy Technicians by overseeing programming, data collection, scheduling, and ensuring the quality of services as prescribed by Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Oversee the therapy department, ensuring high-quality services provided by consultants and maintaining compliance with prescribed therapies.
- Manage inventory and procurement of adaptive equipment based on individuals’ needs, ensuring proper availability and functionality.
- Monitor homes and day programs for proper mealtime procedures, positioning, and use of therapy equipment.
- Coordinate services by collaborating with the Sunrise team, family members, therapists, wheelchair repair specialists, medical professionals, and external service providers.
- Develop and conduct training for staff on physical, nutritional, and communication-related needs, including physical and nutritional management.
- Attend interdisciplinary meetings and annual Individualized Plan (I-Plan) meetings to contribute to person-centered care.
- Maintain and update general therapy information and ensure ongoing compliance with best practices.
- Provide direct therapy services within the scope of licensure.
- Develop, update, and conduct training programs as needed to support staff and service quality.
- Assist the Area Director with budgeting, including annual budget preparation and monthly financial reviews.
- Review and approve invoices and departmental expenses to ensure financial responsibility.
- Support additional areas and locations as needed, based on organizational needs and requests.
- Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required as this job entails direct care of children receiving services. Employees are required to communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and others regarding medical care, supports, and services. This requirement includes the ability to effectively communicate in English including medical terminology.
