TheDirector of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for managing andsupervising the rehabilitation department to meet resident needs,the companys fiscal requirements, and federal and stateregulations. The DOR will achieve specific patient care, employeerelations, customer service, and financial objectives throughstrong leadership and effective management of staff, customers, andreferral sources. Maintains professional conduct, includingpositive levels of interaction and rapport with facilities andclients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assign patientscheduling and other responsibilities to staff as needed.

Supervise, orient, train, evaluate, and counsel department TeamMembers to improve their job performance and to maintain highstandards of performance and patient quality care, in conjunctionwith the Regional Director of Operations and Human Resources. Mayassist with the interview process for hiring department TeamMembers. Ensure compliance with Reliant Rehabilitation and facilityspecific policies and procedures for the department. Ensure thattherapists and therapy assistants are compliant with documentationin the medical record that:1. is accurate and concise;2. meetsgovernmental and third-party payor requirements;3. minimizesduplication; and4. reflects a clear picture of the patients status,the skilled intervention, and the patients outcomes. Communicateand coordinate department functions with other services in aconstructive manner that promotes team rapport and effectiveness.

Communicate effectively with administration regarding departmentprograms, goals, objectives, risks, and successes. Communicateseffectively to the public (including medical personnel) within thecommunity regarding the therapy services offered by ReliantRehabilitation. Participate in utilization review, qualityassurance, resident care conferences, admission meetings,department head meetings, community education planning, andrehabilitation conferences. Responsible for revenue and expensecontrols to meet budgetary requirements. Establish goals andobjectives for the department and implements strategies /activitiesto obtain success. obtain success. Ensure timely and accuratereporting of MDS information. Ensure timely and accurate billing ofservices provided and completion of required documentation andmaintain quality of services. Enhance clinical expertise,professional and management skills through interaction withmanagers, therapists and other professional staff, self-study, andother continuing education activities. Maintain valid state license(where appropriate). Maintain awareness of issues related to thetherapy profession and the healthcare environment. Optimize thefunctionality and skills of patients by providing, directing,and/or overseeing therapy (for corresponding discipline) whenneeded, in the following areas:1. screening of residents, asappropriate:2. evaluate and treat patients who may benefit fromtherapy; as referred by state approved referral source;3. complywith state and federal guidelines regarding accurate and timelybilling and documentation in the medicalrecord;
