Full Job Description Position Summary:
Brookwood Baptist Medical Center is part of the largest network of healthcare with specialty and primary care physicians spread across five hospitals throughout Central Alabama. Position Summary Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams. Exercises professional judgment in performance ofservices and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. Adheresto Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs. Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desiredresults. Performs proper patientidentification,acquires patient’s clinical history, and assuresthatthe information is accurately documented. Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulatestechnical factorsto achieve high quality imagesfor interpretation. Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comprehends and complies with Quality Controlstandards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation. Applies appropriate standard precautions and personalprotective equipmentto prevent cross-contaminationof contagious diseases. Assists in supervision ofstudent sonographers and training of new sonographers. Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately. Ensures safety of all customers. Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent withOrlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and otherfederal,state and localstandards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies andprocedures. Other Related Functions Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation. Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment. Maintains well stocked and organized work areas. May be required to work at any facility Provides patient transport.
Qualifications:
Education/Training Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines. Licensure/Certification Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)registered through the American Registry ofDiagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate. Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry Experience Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department.
