It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a largemultispecialty provider group, and special needs services foradults and children. Job Summary:
  • Performs functions prior to, during and followingelectrophysiology procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates allaspects of set up and development including responsibility andfunctionality of all electrophysiology (EP) lab equipment andtroubleshooting equipment technical problems. Facilitates andprovides Tilt Table Testing.
  • Assists physician ininstrumentation, pacing and recording activities during EPprocedures and facilitates proper recording and storage of data.
  • Performs device interrogation of inpatients and post-operativedevice interrogation.
  • Functions as coordinator and patientliaison between physicians and outpatient clinical care, includingdirect involvement in patient relations. Schedules outpatientvisits and inpatient procedures including coordinating necessaryclinical objectives prior to procedure.
  • Assists physicians indiagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias in an invasiveprocedure arena, specializing in the care of patients undergoing EPstudies, device implantation and ablations.
  • Educates patients ofprocedures expectations before, during and after the procedure.
  • Acts as a resource and provides mentoring to new staff.
  • Maintainsa safe environment. Ensures compliance with current regulatoryrequirements.
  • Functions in all roles rotating during the shift asdefined.
  • Participates in activities for professional developmentand maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills,training and credentials.
  • Performs all duties in a manner thatpromotes team concepts and reflects the organization’s mission andphilosophy.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
  • Follows safe guidelinesand limitations for receiving, transporting, and stocking ofintravenous (IV) fluids as related to specified essential jobduties.

Ensures that intravenous (IV) fluids are kept safe andsecure, have not been tampered with and are not expired.

Intravenous (IV) fluids are defined as solutions containing 5 %dextrose, 0.9 % sodium chloride or combinations of these twosolutions. Qualifications Licensure / Certification /

Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • Licensed Radiology Techniciancredentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Healthobtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • RadiologicTechnologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from theAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained priorto hire date or job transfer date. One or more of the following:
  • Certified Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American HeartAssociation (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American RedCross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited RadiologyTechnology or Cardiac Electrophysiology program required.
  • Minimumof two years related experience required.
Preferred:

Competencyin Advanced ECG interpretation with EP mapping and ablation system.
