RequiredQualifications:

Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technologyprogram One year of recent experience as an Echo CardiovascularTechnologist Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC) Valid Ultrasoundlicense in compliance with state regulations

PreferredQualifications:

Current Registered Diagnostic Medical SonographerCertification (ARDMS) Current ARRT Certification in SonographyCurrent Credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International(CCI) Additional certifications may be required depending onspecialty

Summary:

The Cardiac Sonographer provides specializeddiagnostic care by performing echocardiography to assess cardiacstructure and function. Working independently in diverse clinicalsettings, the technologist ensures high-quality imaging, accuratedata collection, and patient safety. This role involves patienteducation on the echocardiography process and active collaborationwith physicians and multidisciplinary teams to support accuratemedical diagnoses.

Essential Work Functions:

Demonstrate expertisein cardiac echocardiography, including the use of Doppler and 3-Dimaging techniques Maintain strong proficiency in operatingechocardiography equipment and applying advanced imaging techniquesspecific to cardiac assessments Review patient history and verifyorders to ensure appropriate examinations are conducted Educatepatients and/or family members about the echocardiographyprocedures addressing questions if they arise Identify, correct,and document imaging artifacts using echo-specific methods toensure diagnostic quality Maintains accurate patient records anddocumentation in compliance with institutional policies andregulatory standards Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinaryhealthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes Adhere to infectioncontrol protocols and maintain a safe work environment Workefficiently in fast-paced and potentially stressful environments,maintaining composure and professionalism Follow directions fromsupervisors and comply with facility policies, procedures, andstandards Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice for

Cardiac Sonographer Required Essential Skills:

  • Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills
  • To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
